
Since 1990, Specialized Tours & Events have operated a variety of successful projects. We list below just a few to provide you with a better understanding of the work we do.
CORPORATE
Chevron Texaco. Includes International Board meetings, spouse sightseeing programmes and post meeting travel.
Wines of South Africa. Cape Wine 2004, 2006 and 2008. Event Managers for evening functions for 800 guests each. Guests were invited to join in a culinary celebration of South Africa's diverse roots, and experienced a unique kaleidoscope of history, great wine, fine cuisine and craftsmanship. Twenty of the Cape's best chefs offered individual, finely crafted flavours which were prepared on site, to complement the Cape’s finest wines. www.wosa.co.za
South African Tourism. Various media and travel industry programmes throughout South Africa promoting tourism products including cuisine, contemporary design and spring wild flowers. www.southafrica.net
Great Wine Capitals of the World Global Network. Official Travel Agent of the Great Wine Capitals of the World Network promoting wine tourism. Conference organizer for the Network’s AGM and Event Manager for the Best of Wine Tourism Awards functions. www.greatwinecapitals.com
KPMG International Partners Meeting. Planning and management of pre and post conference tours throughout Southern Africa, as well as day tours during the event. Day touring arrangements included special interest tours such as private garden tours and hiking. On site representation provided during conference in Cape Town.
Alliance Capital Management International and Southern Africa Funds. Joint Board of Directors’ Meeting. Three groups handled over the years. Event management during the conferences, wide variety of exclusive special interest, spouse programs and pre and post conference tours for groups ranging from 50 to 200 discerning international delegates.
CONFERENCES
International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades. Conference in Cape Town for 650 delegates including full conference management, spouse programmes, technical site visits, social events and pre and post conference touring.
Living Space Exhibition. Airline, Accommodation and Transport for this exhibition showcasing the SA Textile Industry for 114 international delegates. Also the arrangements for pre and post tours.
Responsible Tourism in Destinations Conference. 292 Delegates attending a 3-day parallel conference to the Earth Summit. Special technical visits as well as all conference requirements were arranged. Hosted by Western Cape Tourism Board. www.tourismcapetown.co.za
Rolls Royce Airline Conference. Full management for the 80 international delegates, including the co-ordination of conference staging and on site representation, design and execution of accompanying persons program, as well as pre and post conference tours within Southern Africa. Dinner events included vintage steam train to a wine estate for a mystical African gala dinner and the thrill of sharks as dinner companions at Cape Town’s Aquarium.
Rhodes Trust / Mandela Foundation held its centenary celebrations in Cape Town. Specialized Tours were responsible for handling all the pre and post touring needs for approximately 1200 delegates. Tours were designed for individual travelers and small groups participating in safaris and special interest tours.
World Archeology Conference. Comprehensive program of technical, as well as scenic, pre and post conference tours operating throughout Southern Africa. Designing and planning of special interest tours, including specialists to accompany pre and post tours. On site representation provided.
International Electrotechnical. International conference of over 1600 delegates in Cape Town. DMC operated day tours for accompanying persons and delegates, all airport transfers and other transport, as well as pre and post tour services.
Harvard Business School Global Alumni Conference. Design, planning and management of an extensive day tour program, as well as 128 pre and post conference tour programs operating throughout Southern Africa, including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Namibia. On site representation provided during conference.
FIT’s, JOURNALIST & PHOTO SHOOTS
National Geographic Traveller Magazine Editor. Travel and sightseeing arrangements for Mr Busch, who was sourcing material for a 14 page article on Cape Town for the National Geographic Traveller Magazine.
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Three month photographic assignment. Arrangements for international models, 1400 swimsuits, 12 photographers, assistants, make-up artists and hair stylists, props and camera equipment to 11 different locations in South Africa
High Profile individuals who have travelled with us include Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rod Stewart.
INCENTIVES
StorageTek Incentive. Group Reward Incentive to Sun City for 50 participants. Four Night, Five Day Program included events such as Pilanesburg Safari and African Boma evening, Hot Air Ballooning, Waterworld Events, Observatory Spectacular Dinner, Quad Bikes, Archery, Reptile Presentation, Night Golf, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Elephant Sanctuary visit and Rhino Tracking. A Tribal African Gala Dinner completed this event.
Natura Incentive. 360 Delegates on a 4-day, 2 destination incentive program which included exhibits, live entertainment performances in the African bush and a hi-tech awards function.
Applied Power Incentive. Group of 40 of top achievers visiting two locations with range of flexible and exclusive touring options helicopter charters, access to serenity rooms at spa’s and hiking Table Mountain, as well as dinner events such as Llundudno beach barbecue complete with fire juggling display.
SPECIAL INTEREST
Bowls Tour. Day program arrangements, including visits to bowls clubs and matches, for Irish group.
Royal Agricultural Society for the Commonwealth Post Conference Tour. Group tour of Western Cape for farmers and members of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth. Visits included various farms, educational facilities and other areas of interest. Subjects covered included fruit farming, viniculture, protea farming, sheep shearing and insemination and flower export.
MBA students from various colleges in the United States. Groups travel on yearly basis to South Africa and Zambia. Visits include wineries, meeting entrepreneurs in the townships and visits to orphanages.
World Wildlife Foundation for Nature. Group touring throughout Southern Africa. In addition to specialised travel arrangements, Specialized Tours also provide special guest speakers and experts throughout the tour itinerary.
Brooklyn Botanical Society Garden Tour. Special interest botanical tour through South Africa and Zimbabwe. Special emphasis on visiting private gardens. |
